A Holiday Let That's Actually Dog-Friendly.

Carlton House is a three-bedroom holiday let in Hazel Grove, Stockport. Dogs are welcome. The rear garden is fully enclosed with a lockable gate, which means your dog can be outside without you watching every second. Torkington Park is two minutes' walk. The Peak District is on the doorstep. If you've ever had to turn down a holiday let because of vague or unreliable pet policies, Carlton House is a different situation.

A Garden That Actually Works for Dogs

Most holiday lets that claim to be dog-friendly still make it awkward. Open gardens. Shared outdoor spaces. Rules about dogs not being left unattended. None of that is particularly useful if you actually have a dog.

The rear garden at Carlton House is enclosed by a solid fence with a lockable gate. Your dog can go out and come back in without you having to follow them around. It's a straightforward detail, but it's the one that guests with dogs most consistently mention.

There's outdoor seating in the garden as well, so the space works for the humans too.

Good Walks Without Getting in the Car

Torkington Park is two minutes' walk from Carlton House. It's a proper park with open green space, suitable for dogs of any size. For most guests, it's the daily walk covered before breakfast.

If you want something longer, the Peak District starts at the edge of Hazel Grove. Lyme Park is around a mile away: a National Trust estate with extensive grounds, red deer, and walking routes through the estate. It's the kind of walk that takes a full morning and genuinely tires a dog out.

Chatsworth and the wider Peak District are further in but easy to reach by car for a full day out.

What to Expect When You Arrive with a Dog

Dogs are welcome inside the property. There's no requirement to keep them in a specific room, but please keep them off the furniture and clean up after them in the garden.

Check-in is via a key box. The code is sent to you on the afternoon of your arrival day. There's no set arrival window, which makes travelling with a dog easier: you can stop as many times as you need to on the journey without worrying about missing a handover.

Off-road parking for two cars is included at the front of the house.

A Note on Accessibility

There is a step between the living room and dining area on the ground floor. If mobility is a concern for anyone in your group, please get in touch before booking and we'll give
you a clear picture of the layout so you can make the right decision.

Questions About Bringing Your Dog
to Carlton House

Is the garden fully enclosed?
Yes. The rear garden is enclosed by a fence with a lockable gate. Your dog can be outside in the garden unsupervised. The gate locks properly rather than just latching, which makes the difference for dogs that are determined to get out.
How many dogs can we bring?
Please let us know when booking how many dogs you're bringing. We're happy to discuss what works for the property and the size of your group.
Is there an additional charge for bringing a dog?
Please check the booking details or get in touch for the current pet policy. Any additional charge will be clear before you confirm.
Are there good walks directly from the property?
Yes. Torkington Park is two minutes' walk from Carlton House and a good daily option. Lyme Park is around a mile away by car and offers much longer walks through the estate grounds. The Peak District is also easily accessible for full-day walks.
Can we leave our dog in the house while we go out?
This depends on your dog. The garden is secure if your dog is comfortable being outside, and the property is a settled, quiet environment. Please use your own judgement about whether your dog is comfortable being left. If you're unsure, get in touch before booking.
Are dogs allowed in all rooms?
Dogs are welcome in the property. Please keep them off the furniture and beds, and clean up after them in the garden. Beyond that, there are no room restrictions.
What's nearby for a full day out with a dog?
Lyme Park (National Trust, around a mile away) is the most popular nearby option: red deer, woodland paths, and open grounds. Chatsworth House and the wider Peak District are a short drive further in and offer some of the best dog walking in the north of England.
